One day, my high school organized a cosplay day, and most of the students dressed as Naruto, Sasuke, Itachi, or Sakura. Before that, I didn’t know anything about Naruto. However, on my way back home, I decided to watch Naruto to understand why everyone was so crazy about it.
This was the second anime I watched after Dragon Ball Z. Even though I never thought I’d like an anime more than DBZ, I was wrong. Now, I’ve rewatched Naruto a bazillion times and am currently watching its sequel, Boruto.
I’m the type of person who never rewatches a movie, let alone an anime consisting of hundreds of episodes. But Naruto is different, as I believe no anime lover gets bored by it.
To prove my point, I will share a few events in Naruto that every fan would’ve seen but never realized how shocking they were. But before that, since Naruto may not be available on cable TV anymore, why don’t I tell you where to watch it so you may rewatch the show and validate my points?
So, let’s start.
Where to Watch Naruto?
The complete Naruto series, Naruto and Naruto Shippuden, is available on Netflix and Crunchyroll. However, fillers are included in the series, and if you don’t want to watch them, you may skip them manually.
I’m the type of person who’s constantly on the go. Personally, I choose Netflix because I can easily download all the episodes I want to watch during my travels. I have the Mediacom Internet 1 Gig plan and find it great for streaming platforms and downloading shows before my next trip.
By downloading Naruto beforehand, I don’t have to worry about internet connectivity or buffering at all whenever I’m traveling in a subway to work.
Now that you know where to watch Naruto, here are five of the most shocking moments in the show you just can’t miss out on.
Sakura and Granny Chiyo Against Sasori
Sasori, the puppet master, was among the few Akatsuki members that I liked. Not because he was witty, but because he was one of the fiercest ninjas in Akatsuki. However, the way his story ended came as a shock.
Sakura and Granny Chiyo were left alone to deal with Sasori, while Kakashi and others trailed Deidara. Though I was confident about Kakashi, I couldn’t say the same for Sakura and Granny Chiyo. It’s because Sakura was more of a medical ninja, and Granny Chiyo barely had any Chakra left.
However, Granny Chiyo’s planning and Sakura’s execution of that plan trapped Sasori in his own Jutsu. And for most Naruto fans, Sasori’s humiliating defeat at the hands of Sakura and Granny Chiyo was truly shocking.
Itachi’s Role in Saving Konoha From His Clan
Itachi was one of the most controversial figures in Naruto and Naruto Shippuden. Itachi was portrayed as a high-level threat to the Hidden Village who massacred every single member of his clan, barring his little brother, Sasuke.
The stories of Itachi mercilessly butchering the Uchiha clan surely made us hate him even more. Plus, he was also the reason why an innocent child-like Sasuke joined hands with evil forces like Orochimaru to seek more power.
However, it was Tobi who revealed the truth about Itachi to Sasuke. The Uchiha were planning to destroy the Hidden Leaf village, and to stop them, Itachi took matters into his own hands.
On the instructions of the Third Hokage and village elders, Itachi decided to wipe out his entire clan and remain a fugitive for the rest of his life.
Frankly speaking, I believed that Tobi was bluffing Sasuke at first, as he wanted him to destroy the Hidden Leaf Village. However, when major characters such as Danzo and the Third Hokage validated Tobi’s story, Itachi became an instant hero who single-handedly saved the Hidden Leaf Village from an existential threat.
Guy Sensei Almost Defeating Madara
We all knew Guy Sensei was strong. Even though he lacked in Ninjutsu and Genjutsu, his Taijutsu skills were better than everyone in Naruto.
While Madara was absorbing Ninjutsu and Genjutsu, which did not work against his Rinnegan, Taijutsu was the only weapon left. So, Guy Sensei stepped onto the battlefield and challenged Madara. Most Naruto fans would’ve believed that as major characters were dying like flies in the war, it was time for Guy Sensei as well.
However, Guy Sensei did something remarkable; he opened the eighth gate, the “Gate of Death,” to maximize his powers. Honestly, I never saw Madara struggling, as he proclaimed that Guy Sensei was among the most powerful ninjas he ever fought.
Although Guy Sensei failed to defeat Madara, his powers were truly a shock as he never showed them until the very end.
Orochimaru’s Heroics in The 4th Great Ninja War
From the very first episode to the start of the 4th Great Ninja War in Naruto, Orochimaru was always plotting something against the Hidden Leaf village.
First, Orochimaru sabotaged the Chunin exams, and while trying to repel his attacks, the Third Hokage lost his life. Then, Sasuke abandoned the village and joined forces with Orochimaru to seek the evil powers.
However, everything was forgiven when he brought all the former Hokage back to life during the 4th Great Ninja War. Although Orochimaru had always played a negative role, no one can deny his prowess in the forbidden Jutsus.
And because all the former Hokage played an instrumental role in defeating Madara and Kaguya, the credit goes to Orochimaru for bringing them back.
Madara Toying With The Five Kage
We all heard that Naruto and Sasuke were nowhere near as powerful as Hashirama and Madara were. However, we never really witnessed them fight, so we never believed it as well.
But when Madara was up against the Kage of five Hidden villages, we saw what he was capable of. Mind you, the most experienced or powerful ninja in a village becomes its Kage.
Even though it was not a pretty sight, seeing how the five Kage struggled against a single man, it was fascinating to see the extent of Madara’s power and Chakra.
