History of Artificial Intelligence Development

Artificial intelligence is the ability of a machine system to carry out various functions and tasks that usually require human intelligence. By learning the history of the development of AI, you can understand how existing technologies and innovations have evolved over many decades.

Today, thanks to ai consulting, you can immerse yourself in the capabilities of AI, which opens up new horizons for humanity, and its further development will certainly affect the future of various areas of activity and life in general.

Stages of neural networks development

The formation of AI can be divided into several key stages, namely:

1. 1940’s – 1950’s. This is the period of time when electronic computers such as ENIAC (in 1945) and EDVAC (in 1949) were created. And also the hour when the English mathematician Alan Turing gave an idea of a practical computer, and created an experimental test for analyzing machine intelligence, which shows how much the system has progressed in learning a dialogue and whether it will be able to portray itself as a person. For the first time, the concept of artificial intelligence was declared at the Dartmouth Conference in 1956 by the American computer scientist and founder of functional programming McCarthy.

2. 1960s – 1970s. In the early 1960s, there were several attempts to achieve the development of AI, but in the 1970s, the study of AI faced criticism. This period was called the “AI Winter” because funding and interest in research in this field significantly decreased due to high costs and ineffective results, and many scientists found it difficult to confront these problems. Although it is impossible not to note that in 1973, the first driverless car was developed called the “Stanford Cart”, which was completely controlled by a computer.

3. 1980s. This period of history is considered to be the renaissance of AI. Then, technical modernization made it possible to create machine learning algorithms, thanks to which computers were able to summarize knowledge and systematize it based on the experience gained earlier, in order to then solve non-standard problems in the field of medicine, finance and other industries. As a result, this became the beginning of new developments in the field of deep learning.

4. 2010s. Since 2010, the era of Big Data and Deep Learning methods has begun. Then the development of deep learning made a big revolution and was very successfully applied in various industries. Users actively used such AI capabilities as image and speech recognition, understanding of human language, a car equipped with an automatic control system, etc.

5. 2020s – present time. AI has become an integral part of human everyday life and has penetrated almost all areas. Now each of us has an excellent opportunity to explore large amounts of data and receive accurate forecasts and recommendations.

The history of AI development is a chronology of its endless possibilities and challenges. The past teaches us to be careful with new technologies, and the future teaches us to look for different directions for research and development in this area.

Now, we are on the threshold of a new era, where AI can not only significantly improve the quality of our lives, but also bring serious challenges to society.
